My wife and I recently received calls from Calvary asking us to pay a bill. Being in debt I want to try to pay all my bills but this one is rediculus.

They supposedly tried to take money out of my checking account (according to the Bank they didn't). So they called and not in words but by implication called my wife a liar. When I tried to complain to a manager, today, she told me that they call any of their "clients" liars. Maybe not but when you implie someone is lying you are calling them liars.

What kind of Company are they anyway? Gestapo or KGB or maybe the CIA or FBI or some other government agency or some other strong arm agency which believes they are the only ones who tell the truth.

Monetary Loss: $300.

Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee

This is getting scary! I think as soon as anyone reads this& knows how to get the word out,We should all ALL call TV stations.

Inundate them with lots of people with complaints till associate press picks up the story in every state. This company obviously is collecting enough money to be profitable despite any complaints. If we get loud enough perhaps politians will get on the band wagon as they want to gat elected. I'm going to copy all the complaints and forward them along with mine to our candidates (Charlie Crist Morgan& Morgan law firm) here in Florida.

Let's do something! This is totally unjust. There are Laws that Calvary has to follow or should be reprimanded & put out of business!

Sounds to me that they are guilty of FEDERAL RACKATERRING. VIOLATIONS.

First and for most, YOU DO NOT WANT THEM ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT!!!!!! The are on my credit report as negative information, saying I was late in payment when I wasnt and there a debt collector not a credit card.

So now instead of my credit history saying the last late payment I had was 4yrs ok it says 1yr because of calvery portfolio.

I disputed and they took those bastards words, even though i presented reciept of payments from my bank. I can only advise you not to pay them because your credit score will be much better off.

NEVER NEVER PAY A DIME ONCE YOU DO AN OUT OF DATE DEBT BECOMES ACTIVE AGAIN AND STARTS FROM THE DATE YOU PAID,! YOU NOW MADE YOURSELF A TARGET.

cALL THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, AND CALL YOUR LOCAL NEWS, NO ONE WANTS TO BE ON TV WITH COMPLAINTS IF YOU DO NOT FIGHT BACK YOU GET NO WHERE AND THE TELEPHONE TELL THE TO CEASE AND DISCIST AND TAPE THE CALLS IF THEY CALL YOU AGAIN AND SUE THE *** OUT OF THEM HURT THEM IN THEIR POCKETS!!!!! UNTIL YOU ALL CLOSE THEIR BUSINESSES

Sadly I found this out way too late and my credit report now has them on it and from the date I paid them. My report used to say that my last negative information was four years ago, now it says one year ago.

I thought paying them off was the right thing to do but it hurt my credit more then it helped. People listen because sadly in this case not paying back "once in in places like Calvary Portfolio, is the right thing to do". Don't pay!!! They should really change their policies when it comes to paying off debt.

I wanted to "be honest", and I was instead targeted for it. I even paid them off in full instead of monthly payments because they said that it would not show up on my report if I did it that way. They lied.

If you did make the mistake of paying them look into capital one secured cards and that will definitely make up the score drop within 6months if you pay your full balance every month. Make that 200 dollar deposit because it's going to be worth it.

They should be banned, the know nothing about the way to collect.....class action suit is warranted.

There are a ton of attorneys that will take on a class action law suit against collection agencies today, Do not be afraid go and do it !!!!Start calling to see what an attorney tells you to do and then he will let people know where they can sign up to be in it.It is never to late :( They cannot place anything on a credit report if they never supplied proof that you owe the bill

Yes, federal law permits individuals, and groups of individuals to sue collection agencies. But you must sue within one year of any alleged violation of your rights. If you do win, you can only recover damages suffered, plus an additional amount of up to $1,000. Your award may also include recovering court costs and attorneys fees.

In class action suit filed by a group of people, the group may recover up to one percent of the collection agency’s worth, or, $500,000, whichever is less.

Debt collectors are generally not too fearful of being sued because of the financial limits on what you can get back. It may also be difficult to prove that your rights were violated, and the burden of proof will be on you.

It is a good idea to let a debt collector that is harassing you know that you are aware of all your rights, including the right to sue. But it is never a good idea to threaten to sue unless you really intend to do so.

Because you are already in debt, a collection agency may not even take the threat seriously, confident that you cannot afford an attorney to represent you in court.

It is important that you keep very detailed records of the dates and times the collector has called. Write down the name, and if possible, the phone number from where the call came from. Also keep notes on what was said. This information is absolutely critical to proving a case of harassment in court.

If you are unable to resolve your problems with the collection agency, and they continue to harass you, or, their activities have already caused you harm, talk to an attorney before threatening to sue. :(

Trying to do the right thing and clear all my debt i payed Calvary Portfolio through the Sentry credit back in feb 2012 its now a week from sept 2012 and they have branded theirselves on my credit report and refuse to fix it right away. I am going to file on them in small claims court now. Has anyone done this before?

Your ignorant. They are on my credit report as negative information and I paid them off all at once so how could I have been late.

Instead of my report saying I was late 4 years ago on a payment it says 1 year. I asked them to fix it and they did not, they kept ignoring my calls and putting me on hold for hours at a time.

You never want a collection agency on your credit report and you know that dumb ***. If you work for them like most likely you do then you and them not what ya'll can kiss.
